Various Artists: All Ears – 10 New and Original Song Hits with a CB Theme

Here’s a strange one.  A produced for Radio Shack exclusive featuring songs with a C.B. radio theme.  This is most obviously part of my dads collection.  In the ’70’s he was into C.B. Radios.  We had one in each of our two cars and even had a base station at home.  Nerd tech of the ’70’s.  His “handle” was Cougar Cat because we had a 1969 Mercury Cougar.  Our basestation C.B. was a Realistic (the Radio Shack brand) and is actually pictured on the back of the album just below, and to the right, of the hand pictured (bottom center right), if you care.

The first song, “Hey Shirley” sounds like it was sung by the Chipmunks, but wasn’t.  It was fun though which gave me high hopes for this album.  But “Honey Bee” was a very mellow dramatic tune.  A real letdown after “Hey Shirley”.  Then “Come On, Come On, C.B. Baby” was almost disco like… but not good.  Then it turned country… boo.  I guess I anticipated this entire album being more country themed so I was not surprised.

Side two starts off with “The Handle Hall of Fame”which is a country rap of sorts listing a TON of C.B. Handles.  My favorite was Sweet Meat.  Then a few more traditional country tunes.  Snore.  “L.J.’s C.B. Radio” is a dialog-ish track by Oscar Ray who I would assume is a comedian.  Not THAT funny but his audience seemed to find it ammusing.  Ha.

Hey good buddy do you got your ears on, come on?  This album is over and out, 10-4, keep an eye out for those county mounties and we’ll see ya on the flip side, we gone bye bye.
